Milford Asset Management at 50 Albert Street

We’re excited to share Wingates' recent completion of 2030 sqm of workplace for Milford Asset Management, located on the top floor of the new Mansons-developed 50 Albert Street in Auckland.
This project brought Milford’s team together onto one large, cohesive floor—moving from two separate levels in their previous location onto a single cohesive floorplate. The client required a layout that allowed them to grow over time. A variety of different collaborative and focus spaces were essential to accommodate a variety of ways of working.
The depth of the floor plate influenced the overall layout – natural light for the workspace and in central portion of the floor a courtyard that serves as a focal point for all visitors and staff.
The design takes reference from the qualities of Milford Sound - upon entering, a low ceiling plays with scale unfolding like the journey through the narrow mountain passes before reaching the main arrival point —a garden oasis with a water feature beneath a raised reflective feature ceiling.
A photograph of tree canopies was converted into a dot map to create a dappled light effect in the feature ceiling.
The Milford brand orange, like the DoC Great Walks can be found as subtle orange hints via wayfinding signage. The wings of the Kea influenced colour selections in the space.
Furniture reuse was important: all existing workstations were retained, meeting tables adapted and resized to suit, and all meeting chairs were reupholstered.
Special shoutout to our incredible design team — Sarah Bryant, Natasha Baumgartner, and Xavier Apelinga — who showed just how awesome they are in bringing this vision to life. From the initial concepts through to the final details, their creativity, care, and collaboration were next level. Also, huge kudos to the incredible wider Project team of Impact Interiors & Construction, GreenAir, Barnes Beagley Doherr Ltd, Agile Engineering Consultants, Light Black Limited, Perfico, SmartSpace Workplace Solutions, OneFrame Architectural Fabric Tension Systems, & Harrows.
From start to finish, this was a truly exceptional effort — and we’re genuinely proud of what we’ve delivered, and that our client loves their new home.
Huge thanks to Milford for the trust and partnership throughout.
