Project Details

Wingates recently completed a 2,030 sqm commercial office fit-out for Milford Asset Management, located on the top floor of 50 Albert Street, a landmark new commercial building by Mansons in Auckland's CBD.

The project brings Milford’s operations together on a single, cohesive floor, consolidating teams previously split across two levels. The workplace was designed to support flexibility and growth, with a variety of open and enclosed spaces to suit different working styles.

The staff kitchen is located in a light filled space. The New Zealand made tiles became a prominent feature, used both in the kitchen and in the scullery space.

Natural light and wellbeing were key drivers of the design. At the centre of the floorplate, a landscaped courtyard creates a calming oasis for both staff and visitors. A custom ceiling installation inspired by New Zealand forest canopies filters soft, dappled light into the space, while the spatial journey draws on the drama and beauty of Milford Sound.

Reflecting Milford’s brand identity, accents of orange—reminiscent of DoC Great Walks markers—are integrated into wayfinding, and colour selections are inspired by the iridescent wings of the Kea.

Sustainability and resourcefulness were embedded in the design approach: existing furniture was retained, repurposed, and reupholstered to minimise waste.

At Wingates, we’re passionate about creating places that truly matter. This workplace exemplifies our commitment to designing environments that foster connection, support growth, and reflect a uniquely New Zealand identity.

The BOH workspace remained largely neutral with external views creating the outlook however the main pathway was identified with a bold orange exposed ceiling beside the standard grid and tile ceiling reflecting the marmoleum floor below.

A quiet space tucked away, designed as a space to commemorate one of Milford's founders. The library is stepped up on a plinth to create a change in space. A dedicated art spot was designed to hold the caricature.
